Meet Our Team

Pursuing an interest in primate behavior and socioecology he spent time doing field research and rehabilitation work with howler monkeys at multiple sites in Central America. He obtained a Masters degree in Anthropology studying primate social behavior through Hunter College.

Deciding eventually that he didn’t want to live in the jungle full time, he changed course and was accepted to the Veterinary Medicine program at Cornell University graduating with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2012. He was the owner and medical director of North Slope Veterinary in Brooklyn for 8 years. His focus is on using veterinary medicine to meet the needs of individual pets and owners so that his patients have happy healthy lives. Dr. Gaylord and his family live in Upper Nyack, NY.

Erica prides herself on keeping current on patient care, protocols, and dentistry by attending seminars and continuing educational courses throughout the year. During her time in the veterinary hospital she can be seen assisting in all roles to keep the hospital running smoothly while also training staff and providing compassionate care to patients. Erica is a lifelong Rockland native who displays a passion for educating clients and creating lasting relationships to ensure both patients and clients have a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Erica is Fear Free Certified, a Cat Friendly Professional as noted by the American Association of Feline Practitioners and a Dental Ambassador through the Virbac Dental Authority Certification Program. In her spare time she enjoys reading and spending time with her family, her rescued dog Mimi, and two rescued cats Wyatt and Dexter.

Since her career change, Rebecca has been passionate about bringing the best possible care to the pets that she sees by collaborating across the veterinary team to optimize hospital workflows. While she takes pride in utilizing her unique background to bring an innovative approach to clinic operations, she also loves assisting in exam rooms and directly helping clients understand their pet’s condition.

Rebecca is Fear Free Certified and is currently attending Mercy University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology. She plans on sitting for the VTNE to become a licensed technologist in Fall 2026. When she is not studying or working, Rebecca likes to garden, enjoy her husband’s cooking, and hang out with her 3 rescue kitties – Olivia, Panda, and Ollie. She also enjoys tutoring future veterinary technicians in physiology and clinical pathology.

Heather strives to create a welcome environment for clients and their pets.  She is proud to be a member of the Nyack Neighborhood Veterinary Team as Dr. Gaylord and his team are dedicated to working together to provide the highest quality care for their patients.  Heather shares her home w/ her daughter, Madison & their dog, Maya, an Australian Shephard mix with heterochromia-two different color eyes!  Heather also cares for a feral cat colony by feeding them & participating in a TNR (trap-neuter-release) program.
